Scope:
There is a range of reasons (9, 10 11 for now) why EurOpinion thinks Iceland could be a great example for the Union of Europeans (and in fact for the world).
It's the country that most seems to be putting in practice Democracy in its true sense. It seems the government and the politicians really do listen to their citizens and they take care of the common good of their population (and nature!) instead of letting prevail their own pockets or the interest of the banks and the global corporations, as is the case with most of our EU and national politicians, reason for which they prefer to negotiate TTIP in secret and behind closed doors, something that also happened with the latest climate negotiations in Paris (COP21) to a certain extend.

Many will argue that "it's easy" for such a small country with so little people, but EurOpinion is convinced that a true Europa has got the full potential to reach a similar grade of Real Democracy and be, on our turn, an example for the rest of the world, just like Iceland is now for us. It is just a question of the citizens continuing to construct the new (renewed and cleaned up) model of our "Union of Europeans" from the bottom up, without letting us be manipulated by the current politicians, the banks, the corporations or MSM, until we simply make them obsolete, following the wise words of Buckminster Fuller.

Following the Iclandic Modern Media Initiative (IMMI) resolution Island wants to be the Switzerland of data, in other words, the Paradise of Freedom of Speech for the whole world. This means as much as that you can truely express yourself in freedom while safekeeping your privacy. American or international spying agencies will not be allowed to poke their noses in your data.
It can be expected that, when they start grabbing the profound sense of this commitment, all social movements, activists and pacific fighters for a beter world all around the globe will unite here, contrary to the real Switzerland and other Tax Paradises, where the only ones to unite are the corrupt and the criminal to hide their loots, thanks to Bank Secrecy.
EurOpinion has choosen to use the .IS extension and host the web on an Icelandic server:
- to safeguard our participants (by others callled: "users") from the prying eyes of unknown and/or secret entities
- and at the same time to support this policy of Freedom of Speech, that is unique in the world (for now - we plead that the EU adopts it too!)

Yet another sample of a realistic vision of the future and intelligent use of common sense.
They were aware, long before we did (do?), that the European Union as it exists and is developing now, is no more than a false political and economic union of the elites in favour of the banks and the global corporations and that it doesn't have to do anything anymore with a true Union of the citizens as it should be. They have decided not to enter in the game of American style lobbies, safegarding themselves from threats like TTIP.
When in Europe we wake up again and return to the original ideals of our founders, to be, indeed, a Union for the citizens, most probably they will be delighted to join again. - Iceland wants to abandon the desastrous mechanism of money making (out of thin air) by the banks. (ES)
